Overview

Black Duck Jira version 6.3.0 is a tool that enables you to migrate your Black Duck Jira projects so that you can use Synopsys Alert and Jira versions 8.x.  Documentation for the full-featured version of Black Duck Jira is located here. 

Requirements

Black Duck Jira version 6.3.0 only supports Jira version 7.x.  It does not support Jira version 8.x.

If you want to migrate to Jira 8.x, use Black Duck Jira plugin version 6.3.0 to migrate your projects; then use Synopsys Alert to manage the Black Duck Jira issues you've created.  If you are already running Jira version 8.x, then this process may not work. If you are currently using Jira version 8.x, use Alert to get issues created through Black Duck.

The Migration tab enables you to update the issue properties of issues created by the plugin so that Alert recognizes these issues and updates them as needed. This page displays projects that require migration; these are projects that are mapped in the Issue Creation tab.   

To migrate your issues:

1. Navigate to Add-ons > Black Duck Jira > Migration.

2. Select Start Migration.  This begins a process that looks for three Black Duck issue types in the Projects to be Migrated list: Black Duck security vulnerabilities, Black Duck policy violations, and Black Duck security policies. The plugin adds the appropriate issue property to matching issues so that Alert can locate these issues.in the Projects to be Migrated list.

3. After clicking Start Migration, the migration status shows as Running; when finished it shows Complete. Any errors encountered display next to the migrations status and in the logs.   

4. After issues are migrated, they display in the Migrated Projects table.  Note that all all projects in Projects to be Migrated are migrated; you cannot individually select projects to migrate.

5. Reset Projects: You may need to migrate again due to unanticipated errors in migration.  After resolving the issues, click Reset Projects to migrate again.  After running Reset Projects, your projects display in the Projects to be Migrated list.  Then click Start Migration.  Repeat this process until all errors are resolved and all issues are migrated.

6. If you cannot resolve an error, contact Synopsys Support. 

7. Use Refresh Status to refresh the Migration Status and the project tables.  In this manner you can track the progress of the migration.

After migration is complete, all your Black Duck issues are ready to go.  At this point, you can uninstall the Black Duck Jira v.6.3.0 plugin and start using Alert.
