To take full advantage of Black Duck's containerized architecture, and to simplify scaling and version upgrades, we recommend deploying Synopsys recommends that you deploy Black Duck to Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).

Prerequisites

Have You must configure a GKE cluster and kubectl configured.
If you're new to GKE, follow Google's Quickstart for GKE to create your cluster.  At a minimum, Black Duck requires 5 CPUs and 16GB of RAM to run. Take this into consideration when sizing your cluster.Consider this information when you size your cluster.

The minimum requirements for Black Duck are as follows:

  • 5 CPUs 
  • 16GB of RAM 

Installation

The Synopsys recommended method for installing Black Duck into GKE is by using the Synopsys Operator/wiki/spaces/BDLM/pages/34373652.  Synopsys Operator is a cloud-native administration utility for Synopsys software that assists in the deployment and management of Synopsys software in orchestrated environments such as Google Kubernetes Engine (GKELearn about Synopsys Operator here).
